Sheva's Free Walking Tours of Mostar

What is a Free Walking Tour?

Free Walking Tours are one of the world’s most popular ways to explore a destination. Instead of purchasing a ticket at a fixed price, you reserve your place in advance and decide at the end of the tour what the experience was worth to you.

This “pay-what-you-want” model makes professionally guided tours accessible to a wider range of travellers while giving every guest the freedom to determine the value of their experience. It brings together solo travellers, couples, friends, and small groups from around the world to share in a memorable introduction to Mostar. Walk with us!

How do Free Walking Tours work?

Joining a free walking tour is simple.

  1. Reserve your place on our website.
  2. Meet your guide at the scheduled meeting point.
  3. Enjoy your tour and discover Mostar’s history, culture, and contemporary life.
  4. At the end of the tour, contribute what you feel the experience was worth.

There is no fixed ticket price. Instead, each guest decides what to contribute based on the quality of the experience and their personal budget.

Why do we offer “Pay-What-You-Want” Walking Tours?

At Sheva Walking Tours, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience Mostar with a knowledgeable local guide, regardless of whether they are traveling alone or in a small group. When independent travelers come together to create a larger tour group of 5 or more, we are able to provide an experience you may otherwise be unable to participate in on your travels.

Traditional private walking tours are often priced for couples, families, or organized groups, making them less accessible for independent travellers. Our pay-what-you-want model allows us to bring visitors together in a shared tour while maintaining the flexibility and accessibility that have made free walking tours so popular around the world.

Although there is no fixed ticket price, these tours are not free to operate.

Sheva Walking Tours & Travels is a fully registered, tax-paying tour company. Our tours are led by licensed, professionally trained local guides, and every tour involves operating expenses including taxes, insurance, booking platforms, administration, marketing, and ongoing research and development.

Your contribution is not simply a tip—it is what makes these tours possible.

What is a fair contribution?

Every guest is free to contribute whatever they feel the experience was worth, and every contribution is genuinely appreciated.

If you enjoyed your tour, many guests choose to contribute between €10 and €20 per person, an amount comparable to what they would happily pay for a high-quality walking tour elsewhere. Some choose to contribute more, others less, depending on their experience and travel budget.

Contributions may be made in Bosnia and Herzegovina Convertible Marks (BAM) or Euro (€).

Your generosity directly supports your guide and enables us to continue sustainably offering thoughtful, locally-led walking tours for future visitors.

Why choose Sheva Walking Tours?

We are passionate about helping visitors understand Mostar beyond its famous landmarks. Our guides are local experts who combine historical knowledge, personal experience, and thoughtful storytelling to present the city with honesty, nuance, and respect.

As a registered local company, we are committed to responsible tourism, professional guiding standards, and creating experiences that are both educational and memorable.

Traveling as a group?

Free Walking Tours are designed primarily for solo travellers, couples, and small groups. We require a minimum of 5 persons to operate a tour (to ensure guides can be compensated) and attempt to keep groups to a reasonable size.

If you are travelling with seven or more people, or would like a customized itinerary tailored to your group’s interests, we kindly ask that you book one of our private tours instead. This allows us to provide the highest quality experience for both your group and participants on our public tours. Explore Sheva’s private tour options here.

Sheva’s Free Walking Tours of Mostar

When Sheva Walking Tours was launched in 2018, we had one Free Walking Tour – Sheva’s Original Free Walking Tour of Mostar: Explore our Past, Understand our Present. The original tour is an all-in-one tour that packs Mostar’s history into one 2.5-hour walking tour experience which begins with the development of Old Town and concludes with the Mostar of today!

Today, we offer two distinct Free Walking Tours! In addition to Sheva’s Original Free Walking Tour of Mostar, we offer the Heart of Mostar Free Walking Tour. The Heart of Mostar focuses on Mostar’s earliest history, with special attention to the traditions and culture rooted in Mostar’s historic center and UNESCO World Heritage Site. For those with limited time to see Mostar’s essential sites or who prefer a shorter route, this tour is for you!

Don’t just visit Mostar – Experience It.
