Discover Europe’s Best-Kept Secret! Fairytale Town with Turquoise Waters & Budget Prices

Travel Off Path highlights Mostar as a hidden gem of European travel, especially for those who want an immersive travel experience but have a budget to keep in mind. While we are quick to note that all travel costs money and that our country is not one to partake in negotiation (prices are presented face value – haggling with shopkeepers can come off as rude!), we do agree that local experiences, food, and accommodation are still reasonably priced in comparison to nearby countries. This article gives a great overview of some places to check out and – of course – a shout out to Sheva Walking Tours!

KJ and Sarah

KJ and Sarah are a delightful American couple that host a fantastic youtube channel covering their travels; in summer of 2023 they visited Mostar and joined us on tour. Check out their youtube video on Mostar to get a sneak peek into Mostar and Sheva’s Free Walking Tours of Mostar. Of note, Sarah is a celiac, so they include great content for gluten free restaurants on their travels. In Mostar we recommend Blok Bar and Food House!

Christy and her family visited Mostar during a longer Balkan itinerary that she planned, spanning Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania. Of course, their visit to Mostar was not complete without join us for a walking tour of the city!

Playtime with WC Turck

Listen to the podcast for a conversation that provides a lovely glimpse into Mostar’s art scene as well as Sheva Walking Tours and if you are hungry for a beautiful story about how love may just transcend all, read Everything for Love!

Stephan Wabl with Wiener Zeitung

Although not strictly a piece dedicated to tourism, Stephan Wabl’s article in the Wiener Zeitung is a compelling account and celebration of Mostar’s Velež Football Club and the community within which it is rooted. Wabl’s article intertwines Velež’s history with that of the city’s, as told through a walking tour of Mostar with Ševko, owner and head guide of Sheva Walking Tours.

Lucas World Travel/When Things Don’t Go As Planned, Bosnia and Herzegovina (The Top Ten Things to Do in Mostar)

Lucas World Travel is composed of an incredible couple (Kendra and David) who travel full time. This travel duo definitely knows how to get the most out of their visits to new destinations, taking the time to listen, understand, and explore with a ready willingness to try to new things (like ziplining)! Their first activity in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina – their 29th country on their world tour – was joining Sheva on tour. Walking Tours are something Kendra and David do upon arrival to new destinations to get their orientation and find their feet on the ground. We absolutely agree with this approach and follow it ourselves when we are on the road!
